MARIST SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL TEAM BRINGS CHEER AND ICE CREAM TO CAMPBELL-STONE SENIORS
It was a festive afternoon recently at the Campbell-Stone senior living community in Sandy Springs when the 12 members of the Marist School Lady War Eagle volleyball team created an “Ice Cream Social” for residents in the Assisted Living Program, many of whom are served by Visiting Nurse | Hospice Atlanta’s Healthy Transitions™ program.
With coach Anna Bush, they made ice cream floats and also provided manicures for the residents. “The girls were surprised how much they had in common with the seniors,” says Bonnie Sharp, whose daughter Jenna participated. “They had a wonderful time.”
The girls are volunteering for Visiting Nurse | Hospice Atlanta’s Healthy Transitions™, a unique initiative that improves the health of our community’s low-income seniors at no cost to them. This visit was part of the team’s community service. Healthy Transitions™ helps residents in senior living communities and HUD high rises manage their health and access appropriate support services while staying independent in their own homes.
Founded in 1948, Visiting Nurse | Hospice Atlanta is Georgia’s largest nonprofit provider of home health and hospice care. Guided by its charitable mission, the organization annually serves more than 18,000 individuals of all ages, races, diagnoses and financial means.
